The company has been created in 1966 by a decision of the Council of Ministers.
The enterprise created is named "ОАМЕС" (OAMPS - Organization, Automation, and Modernization of the Power System). A few months later, ОАМЕС is renamed to АМЕС (AMPS): Automation and Modernization of the Power System. АМЕС undertakes the development work in the power system.
АМЕС is successful, the structure is rational from the very beginning, young and experienced engineers had been attracted.
On July 1, 1969, ДП (State-Owned Enterprise) АМЕС – Sofia and ДСП (State-Owned Economic Enterprise) "Енергоремонт" (Energoremont – Power Repair) – Sofia merge into one enterprise, ДСП ЦЕРА (SOEE CPRA - Central Power Repair and Automation).
ЦЕРА exists as an economic enterprise until 1974 when based on it the SOEE “Energoremont” is created.
In 1974, ЦЕРА is transformed into ОРГРЕС. Since 1979, ОРГРЕС is transformed into НПП (Scientific-and-Production Enterprise) "ТЕХЕНЕРГО" (“TECHENERGO” – TECHPOWER).
Since 1990, the company has acquired the status of a state-owned company which in 1993 has been transformed into a single-ownership joint stock company.
The specialists working throughout these years in the company have participated in the start-up, operation, and reconstructions of some of the largest and most significant project sites in the power industry: TPP “Devnya”, TPP “Varna”, TPP “Republika”, TPP “Maritza-East 1”, TPP “Maritza 3” Dimitrovgrad, NPP “Kozloduy”, TPP “Maritza-East 2”, TPP “Plovdiv-North”, TPP “Sliven”, TPP “Bobov dol”, PAHPP “Chaira”, TPP “Maritza-East 3”, TPP “Rousse-East”, TPP “Sofia-East”, TPP “Sofia”, and the Power Company TPP “Maritza-East 3”.
